Six Arrested Following €12 Million Heist on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

A team of six suspects equipped with high-powered firearms detonated charges to breach the security of a gold treatment facility located in the city of Lyon, resulting in minor injuries to five employees during what appears to be the most recent prominent daytime heist to affect the country.

The daring raid took place on Thursday late morning, with police forces quickly arresting the alleged criminals and recovering the stolen goods valued at approximately 12 million euros (10.5 million pounds), according to officials.

Five workers of Laboratoires Pourquery received light wounds from the blast, and three individuals were transported to hospital for examination, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight workers were present on-site when the robbers attacked.

The suspects, thought to be career criminals, were detained soon afterwards in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, authorities revealed.

A female participant who took part in the raid was also apprehended, officers confirmed.

“Six people who employed explosive devices in an attack on a gold refining facility in Lyon, France were apprehended red-handed,” the French interior minister announced via X, lauding police for their “decisiveness, speed and control”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were also confiscated.

The heist took place as authorities on that Thursday arrested five more suspects, among them a key figure, in relation to this month's brazen raid on the Louvre museum.

Dozens of investigators have been hunting four thieves who utilized a lorry equipped with a moving lift and cutting equipment to breach a first-floor gallery at the prestigious institution on October 19th, making off with jewelry valued at approximately €88M.

In a different significant robbery, burglars recently broke into the Parisian museum of natural history, stealing gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A 24-year-old Chinese woman was apprehended in the current month in the city of Barcelona in regarding the theft, officials confirmed.

The sequence of heists has generated apprehension in the nation regarding inadequate security measures at museums and various establishments containing precious artifacts.
