People have come together across the country to mark two years since the Hamas-conducted attack on October 7th, 2023, as talks proceeded in Egypt over a conclusion to the hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

The incident saw in excess of 1,200 people killed and 251 others taken away to Gaza as hostages. It was the uniquely most lethal day for the Jewish community since the Second World War.

Israel reacted by launching a military offensive in Gaza which has killed over 67,000 people, according to the region's Hamas-run health ministry. Its statistics are regarded as trustworthy by the United Nations and other international bodies.

"The violent enemies have caused great damage, but they have not overcome us," the prime minister added on Tuesday.

He also vowed to "realize all the objectives of the war: the homecoming of all the kidnapped, the removal of the Hamas regime and the promise that Gaza will never again pose a threat to Israel".

Memorial Gatherings Across Israel

The national leadership postponed state memorials until October 16th - after the end of the festive season - but events still were held across the country on Tuesday.

A memorial ceremony for the families of Israeli citizens killed in the Hamas assault was conducted in the coastal city. Arranged by the victims' relatives, it was broadcast throughout Israeli broadcast stations.

Some time earlier, a silent tribute was held throughout the country.

Negotiation Meetings in Egypt

Simultaneously, the conflicting parties' delegations gathered in the Egyptian tourist destination of the Egyptian city for a follow-up session of third-party negotiations to discuss the conditions of the plan.

A senior representative knowledgeable about the negotiations said that an night meeting of indirect talks commenced at 19:00 Cairo time.

The official explained the morning session ended without significant progress, due to differences over the recommended Israeli retreat arrangements from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas demands to ensure Israel does not recommence hostilities after the initial stage of the deal.

He added that the negotiations are "challenging and have still not achieve any significant progress," but pointed out that facilitators are working hard to narrow the gaps between the two sides.

Critical Matters in Discussions

  • A permanent truce
  • The exchange of the hostages still kept by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The removal of troops from Gaza
  • Arrangements for assistance provision
  • Post-war governance of the region

Citizen Sentiment

In Tel Aviv's Hostages Square earlier, 29-year-old a woman - whose family member lived through the incident on the gathering, where hundreds were lost their lives and many more were captured by Hamas militants - told: "No location feels like home anymore and until every captive return none of us will be secure."

"After we see all home once more, we can breathe once more. Then we can commence heal," she concluded.

Near the leader's residence in Jerusalem, people gathered to show their solidarity for the families of the hostages. Israel reports forty-eight remain in confinement in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are believed to be surviving.

Activist a participant remarked: "We need do whatever arrangement required for the abducted to be released. But we sincerely need assurances that we will be secure."

Opinion polls now frequently demonstrate that about seventy percent of the population want the hostilities to finish in return for the release of the captives.

Gaza Conditions

At the area of the gathering, mourners gathered to pay their respects.

From there, the boom of aerial bombardments and artillery could be heard just a brief space away in Gaza, where witnesses indicated the intense Israeli attacks carried on.

In the urban center, attacks were documented in the morning of that day in the west side Tal al-Hawa, sector and zone districts and in the eastern district of that sector, as well the camp to the northwest.

"As the night comes, the dread comes with it," displaced urban resident Emaan al-Wahidi, whose 17-year-old son was lost his life by an Israeli air strike previously, shared.

"We are fearful of the attacks. During nighttime we are lying together, clinging, especially my youngest child who puts his face on me the entire evening."

"Every second we check the reports to see what happened. And I'm worried that this ceasefire will not be finalized and that the conflict will resume to us."

Health Situation

Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City said it had accepted the remains of several people by the afternoon, including a trio who died in an Israeli strike in the south part al-Sabra neighbourhood.

A different healthcare center in the southern urban center of the city said two more dead people had been brought there. A person was lost his life by Israeli soldiers while looking for help to the south, health workers reported.

The territory's health ministry said twenty-five of the {territ
