Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported debris landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
