Democratic lawmakers have published a new tranche of what they labeled "troubling" images from the property of adjudicated sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The first release of 19 photographs—some of which have been seen before—combined with another 70 unveiled later on Friday constitute a small number of the almost 100,000 images released to the House oversight committee, which is looking into the actions and ties of Epstein.
The fallen money manager died by apparent suicide in a New York jail cell in 2019 after being accused of sex-trafficking crimes.
Prominent Personalities in the Photos
Among the high-profile individuals visible in the initial batch are well-known figures including movie maker Woody Allen; Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin business group.
Donald Trump is featured in three of the first nineteen images. In one, he is pictured with six women, whose faces are obscured.
Administration Response
The White House responded to the release in a statement, accusing Democrats of purposefully "hand-picking" the pictures for electoral motives and to "try and create a false account."
"The Democrat hoax against President Trump has been consistently disproven," a White House spokesperson remarked, maintaining that "this presidency has done more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats have ever done by repeatedly calling for transparency, releasing reams of records, and demanding further investigations into Epstein's liberal connections."
Congressional Democrat Remarks
The images were disclosed without context, but per a California Democrat and ranking member of the investigative panel, they elicit additional doubts about Epstein's connections to affluent people.
"Now is the occasion to end this White House cover-up and deliver justice to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his influential associates," he declared in a statement.
The publication of these documents occurs alongside the oversight committee proceeding with its probe into the Epstein matter.
